Our Adoption Process

Somewhere between the street and the sanctuary, something remarkable happens. A cat who had nothing, no shelter, no safety, no reason to believe in people, begins, slowly and bravely, to try again.

That is the moment we live for.

KPOH rescues directly from the streets, from the worst chapters of lives that deserve so much better. We provide complete medical care to every cat, every time.

We give them space, patience, and the absolute certainty that no one here will ever let them down. And we do not call them ready until they truly are, until the walls come down and the trust comes back.

We do not use public events or storefronts for adoptions. We do not believe in rushing a cat from one stressful situation into another. We conduct mandatory home checks because the home at the end of this journey must be worthy of everything they have already survived.

We stay connected with every family we place. Because our cats do not stop being ours just because they found their people. They are always our little loves; we just get to share them.

Cats for adoption appear in our newsletter when availability allows. Read their stories. Fall in love. Then reach out, because somewhere in our care, a cat may already be dreaming of you.

Save a Life!

PLEASE ADOPT – DON’T SHOP!

Owners may surrender cats due to allergies, personal issues, moving, financial constraints, or other circumstances, not because the cats are “damaged”.

It’s a common misconception that shelter cats are inherently “damaged” or unhealthy, but this is largely untrue; many shelters prioritize the health and well-being of their cats, and they are perfectly adoptable and so deserving of a loving home.

Somewhere in a shelter cage right now, worried innocent kittens and cats are waiting. HOPING.

Most are in kill shelters across our county and surrounding areas in Texas,
and for many of them, time is already running short.

The shelters are listed alphabetically to make it easy to browse, but please know
this is just a fraction of those who need help. Click to be directly linked.

If one of these faces speaks to you, act today. Tomorrow is not guaranteed for any of them.

Here is one of our OG Kitty Adoption Videos starring some of our music city kitties!

Emily is one of KPOH’s cherished rescuers, starting at the age of 11! She also adopted two of our kitties (Missy & Gabby) in which Gabby had to have her eye removed within hours of being rescued. Emily loved her just as much & especially adopted her & her sister. This is Emily & Missy saying hello ~ The world & kitties needs more Em’s!!
