Create Your legacy

YOUR GIFT MATTERS - You Can Make a Big Impact With a Future

A Gift That Lives Beyond You. Some of the most profound acts of compassion are the ones that continue long after we are gone.

By including A Kitty’s Purrsuit of Happiness in your estate planning, you are not simply making a donation. You are making a decision that will carry forward into the future, sustaining the rescue and sanctuary care of homeless, feral, and special needs cats for years and generations to come. You are ensuring that the work does not stop. That the doors stay open. That the cats who have not yet found their way to safety will still have somewhere to go.

We understand that estate planning is deeply personal. It is about taking care of the people and the causes that have mattered most in your life. Giving is not one size fits all, and we would never treat it that way. There are many affordable and meaningful ways to make a planned gift to KPOH, and we are committed to working with you personally to find a charitable plan that allows you to provide for your family while also honoring your love for animals.

Gift generosity comes in many forms. A bequest in your will. A beneficiary designation. A charitable trust. A gift of appreciated assets. Whatever form your generosity takes, the impact on the lives of cats who have known nothing but hardship will be real, lasting, and immeasurable.

We know how deeply satisfying it is to be part of something greater than yourself. To know that your life, and your legacy, made a difference for creatures who never had a voice to ask for help.

We invite you to join a growing community of compassionate people who have chosen to leave that kind of mark on the world. Start by exploring the gift options available to you. We are here to help every step of the way, and we are honored beyond words that you are considering us.

An Example As To How It Works:  When Bill & Jane got married and created a will, they included a $50,000 gift to A Kitty’s Purrsuit of Happiness. As the family grew to include three children, Bill & Jane decided to revise their gift to ensure their children’s future financial security. They met with their attorney and revised the gift language so that A Kitty’s Purrsuit of Happiness received a percentage of their estate, instead of a specific amount. Bill & Jane now rest easy knowing their plans will provide for the people and charitable work they love.

BENEFICIARY DESIGNATIONS

Beneficiary Designations Are Easy and Flexible, Make a Gift in 3 Easy Steps!

Not everyone wants to commit to making a gift in their will or estate. Some prefer the increased flexibility that a beneficiary designation provides by using:

IRAs and retirement plans
Life insurance policies
Commercial annuities

It only takes three, simple steps to make this type of gift. Here’s how to name A Kitty’s Purrsuit as a beneficiary:

If you are 70-1/2 or older you may use the IRA charitable rollover to make a tax-free gift to A Kitty’s Purrsuit of Happiness.  According to the law, you may transfer up to $100,000 directly to a qualified charitable organization without paying income tax on the distribution. If you have not taken your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year, an IRA charitable gift rollover may also satisfy all or part of that requirement.

You may specify a particular usage of your bequest to A Kitty’s Purrsuit of Happiness or allow A Kitty’s Purrsuit of Happiness to best utilize the funds upon receipt. Such will put to use immediately by A Kitty’s Purrsuit of Happiness to make a difference in the lives of rescued special needs cats!

Retirement plan assetsare a great way to support the work at A Kitty’s Purrsuit of Happiness because they not only help support the mission, but they also can provide tax relief for your loved ones. Money in an employee retirement plan, IRA or tax-sheltered annuity has yet to be taxed. When a distribution is made from your retirement plan account to a beneficiary, that person will owe federal income tax.

Consider leaving your loved ones less heavily taxed assets and leaving your retirement plan assets to A Kitty’s Purrsuit of Happiness to support our work. As a nonprofit organization, we are tax-exempt and will receive the full amount of what you designate to us from your plan. You can take advantage of this gift opportunity in the following ways:

Name us a beneficiary of your plan

This requires you to update your beneficiary designation form through your plan administrator. Here you can designate A Kitty’s Purrsuit of Happiness as the primary beneficiary for a percentage or specific amount. You can also make us the contingent beneficiary so that we will receive the balance of your plan only if your primary beneficiary doesn’t survive you.

Life Insurance Policy

When the original purpose for a life insurance policy no longer applies—such as educating children now grown or providing financial security for a spouse—your policy can become a powerful and simple way to support our work. There are three ways to give life insurance to A Kitty’s Purrsuit of Happiness:

Name us a beneficiary of the policy

This gift is as simple as updating your beneficiary designation form with the policy holder. You can designate us as the primary beneficiary for a percentage or specific amount. You can also make us the contingent beneficiary so that we will receive the balance of your policy only if your primary beneficiary doesn’t survive you.

Make an outright gift of an existing policy

You can name us as owner and beneficiary of an existing policy. You qualify for a federal income tax charitable deduction when you itemize on your taxes. If you continue to pay premiums on the policy, each payment is tax deductible as a charitable gift when you itemize.
These are a few ways to support our important life-saving mission for special needs cats and kittens. If you do not find an option that suits your wishes or needs, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us directly to see if a customized option may be developed for you. Our Tax ID# is 47-2566562.
